Queenstown sits on the shore of Lake Wakatipu, ringed by the Remarkables mountain range. It is famous for adventure, from jet boats to bungy jumps, but it is just as good for slow days of wine tasting, lake walks and long lunches.
Go in summer for hiking and long evenings, or in winter for skiing at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables. Milford Sound is an easy day trip by coach or a short scenic flight.
